About the Friends

The Friends of the Whipple Free Library is a non-profit organization begun by Beulah Hayes in 1966 to improve the Library’s services, resources, and its role in the community. They provide essential support to the library.

The Friends contributed significantly to the Hayes-Warren expansion to the original library, and helped fundraise for the current building. The Friends are responsible for funding:

  • The purchase of Museum Passes
  • The purchase of special materials and equipment
  • Landscaping and gardening the Library grounds
  • Assabet Reservation Software
  • 2025 Remodel of the Library Conference Room

Ways the Friends Raise Money Annually:

  • The annual Auction
  • The annual Book Sale
